As our yearly tradition, before the Thailand north wind season kicks in for good, we’re moving for two weeks kite camp to best windy spot in Vietnam. With the group of kite holiday customers of Go Kite we spent first two weeks of November in the beautiful hotel right on the beachfront of lagoon in My Hoa / Phan Rang area.
The Ninh Thuan province of Vietnam can be easily called the wind capital of this country, with average of 20/25 knots daily (with some days exceeding 30knt!) and delightful monthly wind statistics. Just a 2 hours direct flight from Bangkok and quick ride with taxi, brought us to our “season break hideway” from homespot of Pranburi.
Flat water shallow tidal lagoon and outer reef with solid waves, will satisfy even the most grumpy enthusiast of kitesurfing.
The surrounding are of national park and city of Phan Rang provides opportunity of excursions and trips around – ancient temples / wild waterfalls / and pristine beaches. If youre into trying new cousines why travelling, there is plenty of various food places around – despite the hotel restaurant which serves great selection of local, european and asian dishes, there are fresh seafood restaurants where you catch yourself food you want to eat, local food stalls with Pho and Banh Mee on nearly every corner and vietnamese or korean barbecues.
All easily accesible by quick motorbike ride from the hotel, scooter rentals are cheap and bikes are delivered directly to us.
Depending on the tide changes, during High tides while kiting you can choose flat lagoon for freeride or freestyle, and with Low tide when there is no lagoon, a quick 600m walk with the kite over quite easy to pass reef will bring you to open sea with nice steady waves. So Pick your poison! 🙂
Place has our full approval, and is definitely worth adding to bucket list of kite spots in South East Asia.
Easily accesible, reasonably cheap, strong wind and loads of things to see around.
We will definitely come back for November kite in Vietnam.
